Pitlochry - Day 8 (Part 1)

We woke to partly cloudy skies, but the forecast told us it wouldn't last. The breakfast at our Inn was very sumptuous. I had smoked salmon on eggs and Holly had porridge. Half of the ingredients they use are sourced from the county, which is admirable.

Our first stop for the day was Blair Castle and Gardens, the residence of the various Dukes of Atholl and family members over the last 750 years. Like most castles we visited, a family member still resides on the property.

Upon arriving on the hour, you can watch the guard play bagpipes and march in front of the Castle.

Immediately as you enter, you can tell these folks were big on hunting and just killing in general. Talk about preppers!

There were over 30 rooms in the castle, so it's pretty huge. Obviously over the seven centuries it was built and rebuilt many times.

As you may have guessed, the pants worn here were very fancy. Very fancy indeed!

The kitchen also had an impressive set of different chinas on display.

Here is the grand hall where the kids used to shake their booties back in the day.

Though the gardens weren't a "grand" as Drummond, the were still pretty cool.

There were more areas to explore beyond the garden. Including the family cemetery.

One the way back to the car we spotted the elusive Highland Coo in a pasture, but he had no time for likes of us! Couldn't get a good photo of his 80s flop hair!
