Pitlochry - Day 8 (Part 2)
After the Blair Castle, we took a leisurely drive up to the Queen's View. We popped into the cafe for a light lunch, then made off for what I thought would be a long walk to the vista point. It took about 30 seconds 😂
Robert (Bob) the
Bruce named Queen's View after his first wife, Isabella. But when Queen Victoria
visited she thought it was named for her.
I can sum up Queen Victoria in three words: Me! Me! Me!
Though the view was gorgeous, that was all to the park. We felt a bit like Chevy Chase at the Grand Canyon in Vacation: a quick view, then hit the road!
Arriving back in Pitlochry, we decided to check out the stores since they were all closed yesterday. As you might image, the shops were cute with very nice owners. Spoiler alert: lots of tartan shops!
Tonight was our big splurge meal! The restaurant, Killiecrankie House, is about 10 minutes drive from Pitlochry. Since we knew we'd have the wine pairings with our 3+ hour meal, we did the smart thing and took a cab.
The restaurant has been named Restaurant of the Year by various culinary organizations in Scotland for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. It's owned and run by a lovely young couple.
The cuisine is a fusion of Japanese Kaiseki and Scottish. It may sounds like an odd match, but it really isn't since both are very seafood focused cuisines.
Arriving, we sat in the lounge for a cocktail as we reviewed the menu.
The meal was straight up yummers! Very unique, not too filling, and beautiful. But don't take my word for it... Here are some of the courses we had.
After the dinner service, everyone retired to the lounge for a nightcap and final bites.
Truly a memorable meal!
