Stirling to Flushing (Cornwall, England) - Day 11
Today we say farewell to lovely Scotland and hello to Jolly Ol' England where we'll stay a few days with our friends Shaun, Andrew and Lucas. After breakfast and packing, we checked out and headed to the Edinburgh Airport. But not before making one last stop!
Just a wee drive from Falkirk are the Kelpies. Unveiled in 2014 and standing over 100 feet high, these giant horse heads are pretty amazing. Kelpies are magical, waterborne, shape-shifting sprites of Scottish lore who often took the shape of a horse. Since horses towed heavy barges, this monument was created as a "thanks" and tribute to all that gave.
The walk to/from the Kelpies to the car was along the canal was very scenic!
The drive back to EDI and flight to Newquey Cornwall was, as we like it, uneventful. Andrew picked us up and we were off to their summer cottage in Flushing. Flushing is a cozy coastal town, pretty much what you'd wish for when visiting Cornwall.
Before heading off to dinner, we enjoyed some snacks, bubbly and catching up!
Here's Andrew with his new babies, the Edinburgh gin we brought as a gift.
A short two minute walk from their lovely cottage and we were at the town pub, The Royal Exchange. Where we had a reserved table.
We sat out back in the beer garden for a minute -
had drinks, dinner, and met a few of their friends.
We spent most of the evening there enjoying a few pints, then returned to the cottage for a nightcap.
Bring on the adventures of tomorrow!!
