Aye - A Wee Trip to Scotland

After breakfast with M and P, we loaded into our Uber and were off to Heathrow. Upon arrival, Holly learned that she now qualifies to use the first class check-in and lounge. That was pretty, pretty, pretty sweet.    Flight home was uneventful, as we like it, and it was great to see this knucklehead again!    Oh and there was Beans... 

Our final day of the trip! Holly and I were up before P left for work, so we got a few minutes with him over coffee/tea. Once he was gone, Holly and I relaxed in the backyard to take up some sun before the heat really kicked in. Mid-morning Miraan joined us, and we had a lovely chat.   Our plan for the day was to go to Abbey Roads where one of Holly's films, Pookoo, was scoring.  But before, took a leisure walk from Primrose to the area of Abbey Roads (yes, it was hot by then). We stopped for lunch at an Italian restaurant (thank god it had A.C.) and P joined us. We had no rez, but luckily we got there early enough that they seated us. We had pizzas and salads. Food was okay; the conversation was better.    After lunch it was on to the world famous Abbey Road Studios. Our phones were on vacation Day 14 bc we didn't take any pics all day! As such, we'll post a couple last photos from Cornwall. And here are the highlights of this travel day...   After breakfast and saying our goodbyes to Shaun and Lucas, Andy drove us to the train station. I didn't realize train stations had a 1st class lounge, but they did and we were glad as we had time to kill. Once on the 4.5 hour train to London, we realized our seats were across a table from another couple. I think both Holly and I were "talked out" by this point, so we didn't engage.    There were a few nice vistas on the journey, but for the most part it wasn't particularly scenic. It felt long. Maybe because the seats weren't super comfy or because we were facing backwards (I got a little sea sick).   We knew prior to arriving that London was in a heatwave, and boy it did not disappoint! Today was out big adventure day to see more of Cornwall by car. Andrew took the day off and we all piled into their car and set off. Admittedly, the day started off rocky as Lucas was in a mood. If you liked hearing the word "no" then our car was where you wanted to be.  😟   I was able to somewhat distract Lucas by getting him to sing the real lyrics from Fiddler On the Roof: "Poppa, can you smell meeeee?"   On our way to St. Michael's, we stopped at a cute coastal town that neither of us remember the name of. It was overcast, but pretty.     We stopped for coffee and flapjacks before leaving town. This was where Lucas had his full meltdown. Good to get it out of the way early! Poor Shaun and Andy, they were at their wits end.    Further up the road, we reached the sunny beaches of St. Michael's. I think Andy used to come her as a kid. When the tide is out, you walk the causeway to the island where the castle is located.       ...

  After a sumptuous breakfast prepared by Shaun, we headed out for a day's adventure. Andrew had to work today, so it was just the four of us.   We first took the water taxi to Falmouth, which is a stones throw from Flushing. We quickly learned that Lucas is a magnet to any and all bookstores, so Holly and I ventured off while Shaun and Lucas popped in to buy a book. The town center of Falmouth where the shops are is significantly bigger than Flushing's. That is to say, they have more than four. 😂   The shops are cute and mostly cater to tourists. Holly and I bought a little piece of art in one of them. Once Lucas saw it he said, "You're a part of Falmouth now." Very wise for a young lad!   From Falmouth we took a long ferry to St. Mawes. The views along the way were lovely.     By the time we arrived, we were getting pretty peckish, so we popped in for some lunch at the Rising Sun.
